Title: Online Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy Foundational Training
Cost: R8000
Description: Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a well-known and evidence-based approach to working with relationship distress. Grounded in attachment theory, EFT helps therapists make sense of complex relational patterns and offers a clear, structured process for facilitating meaningful change and emotional growth. This immersive four-day (24+ hour) training provides a foundational introduction to Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT) for therapists who wish to specialise in working with couples. The training is led by Prof. Elmien Lesch, clinical psychologist and certified EFCT trainer, and introduces participants to both the science of attachment and the systematic, step-by-step approach that characterises EFCT. The training is highly experiential, following a teach–demonstrate–practice model. Participants are actively supported to integrate theory with clinical application, making this an engaging and confidence-building learning experience. This training represents the first step in the formal EFCT training pathway, opening the door to advanced training and certification. By the end of the training, participants will have developed skills in: *establishing and maintaining an engaged, open, and collaborative therapeutic alliance; *using the EFT Tango (the five core macro-intervention moves) to transform patterns of affect regulation, interaction, and models of self and other; *applying key EFT micro-interventions drawn from experiential and attachment-systemic traditions; *recognising and working through common blocks and impasses in couple therapy; and *shaping corrective emotional experiences that foster secure connection.
CPD Points: 24 General and 2 Ethics points
