Foundational Concept: Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT) Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT) is a structured, goal-directed intervention where a credentialed professional integrates animals into a mental health treatment plan.
By moving from a traditional two-way dynamic to a three-way relationship (Therapist-Client-Animal), AAT bypasses verbal defenses, lowers physiological stress, and provides a safe space for emotional processing.
Core Training Modules
1.1. Theoretical Foundation: The Conceptual Framework.
2.2. Science and Understanding of EAP: Neuroscience & Biofeedback.
3.3. Ethics of EAP: Boundaries & Welfare.
4.4. Designing Activities and Processing: The Session Workflow.
5.5. Horse Observation and Behavior: Reading the Herd.
6.6. The Specialist Roles: The Dual-Professional Team.
7.7. Why Horses?: The Equine Advantage.
8.8. In-Person Experiential Learning: Hands-On Practicum.
